Bulleit bourbon
Aberlour single malt scotch
Bates & Schmitt apple cider syrup
Dubonnet
Summerfeld apple
lemon
ginger
Muddle apple and ginger. Combine ingredients, shake, and strain into an ice-filled bucket. Garnish with a slice of ginger.
Yes, there are a lot of ingredients here. But the results are damn good! Spicy-crisp sweetness and smoky heat add up to a perfect fall cocktail. Look for it on the list soon!

Square One Cucumber Vodka
Saint Germain elderflower liqueur
lime juice
simple syrup
Combine ingredients, shake and fine strain into a champagne flute. Top with sparkling wine.
A little twist on the ol' French 75. Gotta love the Square One vodka. Subtle, balanced, and real.

Miller's gin
Lillet blanc
lemon juice
cantaloupe
ginger
Muddle the ginger and cantaloupe. Combine ingredients, shake, and fine strain into a collins glass. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a thin slice of ginger.
Remember: Anything with ginger can be called a "buck". This one has the double kick of fresh ginger and ginger beer.

George Dickel Tennessee whiskey
Kubler absinthe
lemon juice
egg white
Fee Brothers Whiskey Barrel Bitters
Combine and dry shake. Add ice and shake some more. Fine strain into a chilled rocks glass and garnish with a chip of lemon.
This is a slight variation on the Savoy Cocktail Book's "Rattlesnake". We used more absinthe and added the bitters to add complexity. Look for a version of this on the fall cocktail menu!

Flor de Cana 4 year rum
Averna
apple cider
lemon juice
Bundaberg ginger beer
Shake up everything except the ginger beer, and strain into a collins glass. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a slice of green apple.
This is a variation on "The Johnny Appleseed" cocktail we did last year. Averna made it better, and since it's Italian, we had to go with the Italian equivalent of "Johnny". Yeah... sometimes we get desperate for a name.

Muddle strawberry with a bar spoon of Pernod. Combine ingredients, shake and fine strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a pinch of fennel pollen.
This one starts and ends with a subtle hint of anise, but rounds out with a kick of gin and fruit. Not as girly as it sounds!

Tito's vodka
Green Chartreuse
Concorde grapes
basil
lemon juice
Muddle the grapes and basil, combine ingredients, shake and fine strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon ribbon.
We were surprised to find that these grapes yielded a vivid fuchsia color despite the fact that they were a dull, blackish color. The Chartreuse punched up the basil just enough to create a subtle herbal note to liven up the citrus-sweetness.

Square 1 vodka
dry white wine
grapefruit juice

Combine, shake, and serve in a bucket. Garnish with a thin grapefruit slice.
The Pamplemousse was one of the longest running cocktails on our list, and people still request is almost nightly, so why not give it a little cameo?

September 10, 2009
Beefeater gin
Luxardo maraschino liqueur
Green Chartreuse
lime juice
Shake, fine strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a brandied cherry.
Sometimes we like to pull out one of our favorite classics as the cocktail of the day. Along with the Negroni--- which we all agree is one of the best cocktails ever--- The Last Word is the drink that we just can't get enough of.

Siete leguas reposado tequila
Velvet Falernum

Shake, fine strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime half-moon.
Velvet Falernum is a lime-clove liqueur that adds complexity and viscosity to cocktails. It's strange on it's own, but tasty in certain situations.

Fee's Brothers Old-fashioned bitters
Shake and strain into a bucket. Garnish with a lemon chip.
Some consider it blasphemy to use a single-malt scotch in a cocktail, but since we're all godless pagans, we can do whatever we want, as long as it's tasty. Heh heh!

Pocket Jacks
September 5, 2009
Buffalo Trace bourbon
Nonino Amaro
apple cider
lemon
Regan's orange bitters
Combine ingredients, shake and strain into a collins glass. Garnish with a lemon ribbon.
In Texas Hold 'em, never overplay pocket jacks. They are certainly worth a good preflop raise, but if you see an ace, queen or king on the flop, better watch your step. Remember: Many players will call pre-flop with an ace-rag, and if they connect, you better chuck those hooks.
Oh, sorry. This was meant for my poker blog. The drink was pretty tasty, though.

Hendrick's gin
Lillet Blanc
strawberry
cucumber
lemon juice
Peychaud's bitters
Muddle strawberry and cucumber with a little sugar. Combine ingredients, shake, fine-strain, and serve up. Garnish with a thin cucumber slice.
This light and summery beverage could be trouble, because downing four per hour would be no problem... not that we would know.

Hendrick's gin
Campari

watermelon
terragon
Muddle melon ant terragon, shake ingredients, fine-strain and serve up. Garnish with an orange ribbon.
A little like a Negroni, but a little more feminine. The Negroni was supposedly created by General Pascal Olivier Count de Negroni, so we thought a feminine twist on the name was appropriate.
