Widow's Kiss

April 22, 2010

Laird's Applejack
Yellow Chartreuse
Benedictine
Angostura bitters

Stir and serve in a cocktail glass. Garnish with a brandied cherry.

The original uses Green Chartreuse and calvados. It also calls for way more of both Benedictine and Chartreuse than we found palatable, so we changed it up.

Sunny Jim

April 8, 2010

Rittenhouse Rye 100 proof
Benedictine
Qi white tea liqueur
Dolin dry vermouth
Regan's orange bitters

Combine and stir ingredients. Serve in a cocktail glass with a lemon ribbon.

Boozy goodness! "Sunny" Jim Rolph was the longest serving mayor of San Francisco and he loved his booze. He served 19 years as mayor of San Francisco all throughout Prohibition, and his last two-and-a-half years as governor of California. During his tenure he remained lax on Prohibition restrictions, and in doing so established SF as the cocktail capital of the United States. We love Sunny Jim!

March 4, 2010

Boodles gin
Benedictine
lemon juice
dry white wine
Earl Grey tea syrup

As you may know, "teetotaler" refers to those who abstain from drinking alcohol. Ohhh the irony...

Anchor Bock

Muddle pineapple and combine ingredients (except the beer). Shake and fine-strain into a rocks-filled pilsner glass and top with beer. Garnish with a lemon wheel.

Sazerac rye whiskey
Torres 10 year brandy
Carpano Antica sweet vermouth
Benedictine
Peychaud's bitters
Angostura bitters

Stir ingredients and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange ribbon.

This drink was invented in 1938 by Walter Bergeron, the head bartender at the Monteleone Hotel in New Orleans, and is named after the French term for what we call "The French Quarter" ... le Vieux Carré ("Old Square").

Muddle the strawberry, combine ingredients, shake and fine strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon ribbon.

Catch 22

July 30, 2009

Square 1 Cucumber vodka
Benedictine
cucumber
fresno chili
lemon

Muddle cucumber and chili. Combine ingredients, shake and fine strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a cucumber slice.

We were lucky enough to have Allison Evanow, creator of Square One Vodka, at our bar tonight. We love her products, so we wanted to showcase her elegant Cucumber Vodka with a simple blend of ingredients that emphasized the savory side of the cocktail spectrum. This one had a touch of heat, but had a cool cucumber finish.
